Deborah Omelogu

My name is Deborah Omelogu. I live in Lynwood village, a south suburb of Chicago, with my husband, Bernard Omelogu. Our marriage is blessed with three children who are now adults. I am a registered nurse with masters degree in Health Law. I work in the emergency room of University of Chicago Hospital.

Women of Divine Purpose was birthed out of desperate need for peace at work and at home. In 2004 when as a staff of Cook County hospital, I observed lack of healthy interaction/relationship amongst the staff members. So I sought God's face for solution to the unhealthy situation and He answered by instructing me to start a prayer group with my colleagues during which we met once a week. As we present our prayer requests, and the group grew, we discovered that there was a huge need to pray for marriages, our children, our homes and countries of residence and origin. Many of our children were dropping out of schools and turning away from God. We all lifted our voices and cried to Jehovah Jireh and He heard us from His throne. We continued our gatherings once a week over the phone and in person every 2 months. We continue to uplift one another at work, in our neighborhoods, and worldwide.

In 2007 we became a registered organization with the name Women of Divine Purpose (WODP). We are a not-for-profit organization. We raise are funds mainly by taxing ourselves to enable the group to help the underprivileged in our communities.
In addition, we support four blind brothers in Nigeria financially with their daily and educational needs. In our communities, we have partnered with pharmaceutical companies to immunize the underprivileged and once a year we help City Life Center Church for their community outreach for health screening.
We do make annual financially contribution to some shelter homes and Christian radio stations

We are looking up to the Holy Spirit to expand our Ministry. We do not know where we will move to but we know that GOD has plans for us.
